Corporate Buyer Responsibilites and Duties:

  • Ensure items are priced correctly and displayed in designated showrooms accurately.
  • Create, maintain, and enter product information into the retail software system as well as vendor information.
  • Place purchase orders for products based on sales projections.
  • Collaborate with designers, manufacturers, suppliers, and ownership to ensure a consistent and high-quality product offering.
  • Input/track orders and resolve delivery issues through cross-functional communication with vendors and distribution centers.
  • Maintain a close pulse on trends and customer needs to identify new assortment opportunities.
  • Answer sales questions about products, prices, and availability.
  • Recommend advertising opportunities based on inventory levels.
  • Inspect damaged merchandise and make informed decisions on pricing and where to place merchandise as needed.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts.
  • Assist with monthly category reporting.
  • Help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs.
  • Own the financial outcomes for the performance of the products placed in stores.
  • Regularly assess performance and revise assortment and floor space allocation strategy as needed.

 

Corporate Buyer Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in appropriate software.
  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Occasional domestic travel.
