AR/Billing Associate

Key Responsibilities

  • Record direct bill carrier statements for Life & Health and Property & Casualty lines, ensuring accurate entry into the accounting and agency management systems
  • Retrieve and review carrier commission statements; reconcile billed premiums and commissions to payments received and posted
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including commission variances, payment differences, return premiums, and unapplied cash, by coordinating with carriers, producers, internal departments, and external accounting resources
  • Prepare and process commission return payments to carriers, ensuring proper approvals, documentation, and timely remittance
  • Maintain and update banking information for electronic funds transfers related to direct bill commissions and premiums; monitor ACH and other electronic transactions for accuracy
  • Research and respond to internal and external inquiries related to direct bill activity in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with month-end closing tasks, reporting, and account reconciliations related to direct bill receivables and payables
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls within direct bill operations

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2–4 years of accounting experience or equivalent education; working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable preferred
  • High school diploma required; college-level accounting coursework preferred
  • Insurance industry experience preferred; familiarity with EPIC agency management system a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze, reconcile, and correct data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to company policies
