Cloud Operations Engineer

We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support AWS GovCloud environments and Kubernetes-based application deployments. This role will be responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure while supporting Linux environments, networking, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, security, and production operations. 

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and support AWS GovCloud infrastructure, including EC2, VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, load balancers, storage, backup, monitoring, logging, and related cloud services.
• Support Kubernetes-based application deployments and maintain Kubernetes clusters, worker nodes, node groups, namespaces, deployments, services, ingress, secrets, certificates, configuration, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Support Kubernetes manifests, containerized workloads, and deployment-related troubleshooting.
• Support GitOps and CI/CD deployment practices.
• Support Linux-based infrastructure and application hosting environments.
• Support PostgreSQL database environments from an infrastructure and operations perspective.
• Implement and maintain IAM roles, policies, least-privilege access, MFA, account controls, and operational access procedures.
• Support cloud networking, including VPN, private subnets, NAT, DNS, certificates, firewalls, load balancers, and secure connectivity between client and cloud environments.
• Utilize infrastructure as code tools to support repeatable and controlled environment provisioning.
• Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, baseline hardening, image management, and server lifecycle activities.
• Configure monitoring, alerting, centralized logging, and operational dashboards for AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, restoration testing, and environment resilience activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
• Support compliance evidence collection for security reviews, audits, client questionnaires, and internal governance.
• Troubleshoot production issues, coordinate incident response, and participate in change management activities.
• Collaborate with application, database, security, product, support, and client-facing teams to ensure environments are stable, secure, and supportable.
• Participate in operational support, change control, incident response, and planned maintenance windows as needed.
• Support Hawaii DOCR business hours and occasional maintenance windows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems administration, cloud operations, DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud engineering.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud or other regulated AWS environments.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience.
• Experience supporting Linux environments.
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with PostgreSQL database environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools.
• Strong working knowledge of EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, S3, EBS, load balancing, backup, encryption, and key management.
• Experience with cloud networking, including routing, security groups, firewalls, DNS, VPN, and load balancing.
• Experience with Kubernetes manifests, deployments, services, ingress, secrets, certificates, and containerized workload troubleshooting.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, patching, vulnerability management, and secure configuration baselines.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP, CJIS, and NIST security frameworks.
• Ability to clearly document technical designs, operating procedures, and support processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with delivery, product, support, security, and client-facing teams.
• Must be a U.S. Person and perform all work from within the United States.
• Must be eligible to access AWS GovCloud environments and customer-controlled data in accordance with applicable security and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting state government, justice, corrections, public safety, defense, or other regulated workloads.
• Terraform experience.
• AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty.
• Experience with container image management, vulnerability scanning, and secure deployment pipelines.
• Experience with SIEM integration, centralized logging, and audit evidence collection.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and restore testing.
• Experience supporting high-availability production environments.
• Ability to work remotely while meeting all required access, security, and customer compliance requirements.
• Willingness to participate in production on-call support, if required.
