Controller

We are looking for a Controller to work with one of our clients here in OKC. The Controller will lead the company’s accounting function and be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance, and Owner Finance Manager, this role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and the development of the accounting team while supporting the company’s continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting team and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and general ledger functions.
• Coach and develop accounting staff while promoting accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Own the monthly close process and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Lead the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors.
• Oversee multi-entity accounting and ensure accurate financial reporting across entities.
• Work closely with the Owner Finance Receivables Group to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of the long-term receivables portfolio.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system workflows.
• Serve as a key administrator of the company’s accounting systems and help optimize their use.
• Research complex accounting matters and implement appropriate accounting treatment.
• Develop accounting metrics and reporting that provide leadership with meaningful insight into business performance.
• Collaborate with finance and operational leaders to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
• Coordinate with external tax professionals and ensure timely, accurate information for tax reporting.
• Ensure accounting resources and processes are aligned to support a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Experience managing accounting teams and developing staff.
• Experience leading financial statement audits and coordinating with external auditors.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting.
• Experience designing or improving accounting processes and internal controls.
• Strong ERP experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Experience in real estate, construction, development, or other capital-intensive industries preferred.
• Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems preferred.
• Understanding of corporate finance concepts and how accounting supports strategic decision-making preferred.
