Datacenter Technician Key Responsibilities
- Install, position, and connect servers and associated hardware within rack environments, including unified computing systems
- Perform equipment moves, additions, reconfigurations, and decommissioning tasks
- Coordinate and verify power distribution connections, including working with PDUs and circuit assignments
- Maintain organized rack layouts, ensuring proper labeling and adherence to cable management standards
- Diagnose and resolve basic hardware-related issues involving power and network connectivity
- Carry out hardware lifecycle activities, including deployments, refresh initiatives, and asset disposition, as well as equipment transfers between facilities
- Execute tasks in alignment with established procedures, documentation, and change control processes
- Maintain accurate asset records and document all completed activities
Datacenter Technician Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with enterprise storage solutions such as Pure Storage, Isilon, or Cohesity
- Exposure to Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) environments
- Foundational knowledge of storage area networks (SAN), virtualization technologies, or networking principles
- Prior experience in a data center or similar hands-on hardware environment
- Experience supporting enterprise-grade server infrastructure (Cisco UCS experience is highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of server components, structured cabling, and power distribution
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed and meet requirements to operate a company vehicle
- Demonstrated ability to perform physical infrastructure tasks independently with minimal supervision
