We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service / Install & Repair Technician to perform on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications systems. This is a hands-on field role that combines technical expertise with direct customer interaction, ensuring reliable service delivery and a high-quality customer experience.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can work independently in the field, handle a variety of technical systems, and communicate effectively with customers while representing the organization in a professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Install, test, splice, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic and copper facilities, along with customer-premise equipment, internet, voice, and video systems
- Perform diagnostics, testing, and both temporary and permanent service restoration to resolve outages and service issues
- Conduct acceptance testing on new installations and ensure proper system performance and compliance with standards
- Locate, mark, and repair underground, buried, and aerial telecommunications lines
- Provide face-to-face customer support, educating customers on services and recommending solutions based on their needs
- Resolve customer service issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Perform routine system testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability across all services
- Troubleshoot service disruptions across voice, internet, video, and data systems
- Ensure all installations and repairs meet safety, technical, and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, material usage, service logs, locate requests, and system updates
- Use internal systems to update plant records, dispatch tools, and service databases
- Follow all safety procedures, participate in safety training, and maintain a safe work environment
- Perform vehicle inspections and support inventory and equipment management as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation, overtime, and occasional travel requirements
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to climb poles and operate field/construction equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Availability for on-call, overtime, and occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of telecommunications installation, repair, or maintenance experience
- A+ certification or equivalent technical/network training
- Familiarity with telecom services including fiber optics, internet, VoIP, CATV, DSL, PBX, and data systems
- Experience with MS Office and field service/dispatch or plant record systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills
