We are seeking an experienced Transport Engineering Manager to lead network engineering operations and support the continued growth of a modern telecommunications infrastructure. This role is ideal for a technology leader with strong experience in network engineering, team leadership, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
The Transport Engineering Manager will oversee engineering initiatives, support network reliability, guide technology improvements, and lead a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and support the network and transport engineering team while providing technical guidance for routing, switching, and transport technologies
- Oversee network operations, system maintenance, support functions, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities
- Manage the design, implementation, optimization, and reliability of carrier-class LAN/WAN networks and infrastructure
- Evaluate network performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions to internal teams and stakeholders
- Support technology strategy, infrastructure upgrades, vendor evaluations, and implementation of new technologies
- Review and approve network changes, maintenance procedures, and implementation plans
- Lead complex network, transport, and fiber infrastructure projects from planning through completion
- Analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and develop recommendations to improve reliability
- Support automation, monitoring, auditing, and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and partners to deliver effective technology solutions
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience leading a network engineering team in a management role
- 10+ years of experience in network planning, engineering, and carrier-class networks
- Strong experience designing, implementing, and optimizing LAN/WAN environments
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP and network addressing
- Hands-on experience with routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS
- Experience with VPN technologies, network security standards, and monitoring tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills using network testing equipment and tools
- Ability to manage complex projects and communicate technical information to leadership
- Ability to travel as needed with a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in telecommunications or service-provider environments
- Knowledge of VoIP technologies and voice network systems
- Experience with IPv6, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, SNMP, and SIP
- Experience with virtualization, Linux, scripting, or automation tools
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS/IOS XR, Juniper Junos, Palo Alto PAN-OS, and Microsoft 365
Certifications:
- CCNP/JNCIP required; CCIE/JNCIE preferred
- PMP or project management certification is a plus
